40 year old and after is the age that people start seeing wrinkles around their lips. What is the solution?
One thing that could be done is to inject some type of Botulinum Toxin such as Botox to relax some of the muscular fibers of the muscle orbicularis oris. This is the muscle that is responsible for development of some of this wrinkles. In many people injection of only a few units of Botox to those areas makes a subtle and nice change by minimizing the wrinkles. In many patients especially in women lack of volume is the other problem that increases the visibility of the wrinkles.

I generally see patients who receive Botox for lip wrinkles a week after the injection and follow with injection of dermal fillers, namely Juvederm. The combination of Botox and Filler for lips can minimize wrinkles while it enhance the freshness of lips. Patients may need to repeat this treatment every 4-8 months for maximum result.
